News Brief: Second Amendment Protected Rights Gone in a New York Minute

In New York City, officials passed a law that makes it illegal for a licensed handgun owner to simply transport his firearm outside city limits.

That’s right. If you own a gun legally, and simply transport it to a shooting range outside city limits, you are considered a criminal under law. When it comes to Second Amendment protected rights, New York City officials act as if the Constitution does not apply to them.

But Mountain States Legal Foundation is fighting back. We understand that a victory in NYC will help preserve our constitutional rights across America and in the West, where we are currently fighting another group of left-wing officials who have passed unconstitutional firearms regulations in the city of Boulder, Colorado.

MSLF has filed an amicus curiae brief with the Supreme Court in the case, NY State Rifle & Pistol Association v. City of New York. New York City officials are running scared! They have asked the Supreme Court to delay the case, but the Court has wisely denied their request so far. New York City officials’ days of disregarding the Constitution may be numbered.
