Stand with These Idaho Ranchers as They Fight Against the Government for the Water on THEIR Land
It has been settled law for decades that water rights on National Forest lands are subject to state law. The state of Idaho requires that anyone who has such rights put them to “beneficial use” by watering their own livestock.
But right now, the federal government is making an outrageous power grab to take control of stockwater rights away from Idaho by declaring the state’s law unconstitutional. If it succeeds, it would jeopardize the ability of the ranchers to water their own livestock.
This would have far-reaching consequences. Not only would it be catastrophic to ranchers’ livelihoods, but it would be a blow to the ability of western states to govern themselves. On top of that, it would set a dangerous precedent that would allow the federal government to reach even further into the lives of private citizens.
That’s why Mountain States Legal Foundation is representing ranchers Paul Nettleton, Tim Lowry, and Don Pickett along with the Idaho Farm Bureau Federation in the federal government’s lawsuit against Idaho.
These brave ranchers have taken a stand against an overreaching government and said “enough is enough”.
Will you stand alongside them by signing the petition below?
We can’t allow the federal government to win this case. Your voice today will tell these bureaucrats that it’s time to play by the rules and stay in their lane.
Please stand against this extreme government overreach by signing the petition below.
- I am standing for the settled law that says Idaho’s waters belong to the people of Idaho.
- I am standing against this federal government overreach that threatens the livelihood of Paul Nettleton, Tim Lowry, Don Pickett, and the rest of Idaho’s ranchers as represented by the Idaho Farm Bureau Federation.
- I am asking the court to dismiss the federal government’s case, ensuring that stockwater rights on National Forest lands remain subject to state law.
