MSLF Vows Legal Response if Boulder Doubles-Down on Gun Rights Violations

Denver, ColoradoApril 21, 2021 — Cody J. Wisniewski, Director of Mountain States Legal Foundation’s Center to Keep and Bear Arms, issued the following statement in response to Boulder City Council’s April 20 Resolution supporting Gun Control:

“Nearly 3 years ago, when the Boulder City Council was in the process of passing its firearm and magazine ban, I stood in front of the City Council and informed them that Mountain States Legal Foundation would sue if the city passed the unconstitutional ordinance it was considering.  The City Council passed the ordinance and Mountain States Legal Foundation sued.

Today we find ourselves in the same position. If the Boulder City Council pursues additional, unconstitutional gun control measures, we will once again stand in defense of the natural rights of all Boulder residents.  And if the state of Colorado tries to similarly trample on Coloradans’ rights, we will do the same.

Now is not the time to disarm individuals or restrict law-abiding citizens’ ability to own or carry arms.  The Second Amendment protects the right of ALL Americans to defend themselves and their loved ones—and now, as ever, this fundamental right must be recognized.  The Center to Keep and Bear Arms will not stand idly by while Colorado and Boulder seek to discriminate against law-abiding Coloradans. “
