MSLF Partners with the Centennial Institute for Constitution Day

Last night, MSLF’s Deputy General Counsel Sean Nation spoke at the Centennial Institute’s Lecture Series on Constitution Day. His topic was “How the Structure of the Constitution Preserves Liberty.”

Sean spoke about the history leading up to the Constitution, starting with the lessons that our Founding Father’s learned before they began to create our founding document. It was the lessons they had learned from the British and their tyrants that lead our Founding Fathers to forge a charter that called for the separation of powers and secured the rights of freedom.

The next portion of Sean’s lecture focused on various and specific portions of the Constitution, what they were designed to do, and the rights they were designed to protect. He touched on several cases both past and present that demonstrate clear violations of the Constitution and what they mean for us today.
